Abstract:
Based on vehicle data, emission processing model SMOKE was used to calculate on-road vehicle emissions over the region of southern China, and thus gridded vehicle emissions for air quality modeling were obtained. The results indicated that large mobile emissions concentrated in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region and along the coast of southern China. The maximum emissions occurred in the PRD with three major emission centers formed in three major urbanized regions such as Shenzhen-Hongkong,Guangzhou and Zhuhai-Macao respectively. These distributions of vehicle emissions were closely related to the status of economic development. Results also reveal that the rapid increases in the total numbers of motorcycle and light duty gasoline vehicle have great impact on mobile emissions, which could lead to remarkable deterioration of air quality in the metropolitan areas over southern China.
